Facebook plans to change their messenger app logo for the first time in 7 years.

Facebook has decided to update their messenger app to give it a colorful appearance. This is an interesting approach for Facebook to allude to a new update that makes Facebook Messenger compatible with Instagram.

Messenger recently added cross-app communication with Instagram, which will be rolled out to most users in North America soon, the company says.

The updated Facebook Messenger icon will consist of some of the vibrant sunburst tones that make up the Instagram app icon while holding on to Facebook’s previously used color, sky blue.

The refreshed logo with a gradient of purple, pink and orange “reflects a shift to the future of messaging,” Facebook said in a blog post. It also meant to demonstrate Messenger’s shift to powering conversations on Facebook’s video communication device Portal and virtual reality headset Oculus.

Consumers will also have the ability to visually enhance their conversations with the new chat and color themes.

Facebook creates another feature for their messenger app, Vanish Mode. Vanish Mode allows written messages to disappear after they have been read or after you leave the chat.

Technology in 2020 has consisted of many upgrades, and this has encouraged many consumers to utilize their software or social media platform as a result of quarantine boredom.
