USM student body hopeful for the return of Homecoming

The University of Southern Mississippi plans to announce their 96th edition of the Homecoming Court. While primary winners were announced Tuesday September 21st, run-off winners will be announced Thursday September 23rd at 8 pm.

The Student Government Association is hosting a three week homecoming celebration with hopes of rallying students together with school spirit.

SGA encourages students to participate in events like Go Gold Friday, Friday Night at Spirit Park, and Homecoming Parade and Tailgate.

Homecoming is expected to bring high spirits to students despite Covid 19 precautions still in place.

Jerry DeFatta, Executive Director of the Southern Mississippi Alumni Association says, ” After more than a year of not being able to host in person events for alumni and fans, Homecoming 2021 will be a particularly special time for golden eagles.”

The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association will hold the 2021 Homecoming game Saturday October 9.
